To help Maryland homeowners invest in clean energy, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) provides grants for clean burning wood and pellet stoves that displace electric, non-natural gas fossil fuel heating systems or old woodstoves at incentive levels outlined in the chart below.NOTICE: ALL new and replacement
wood and pellet stoves MUST obtain a permit before installation. For a list of
county permitting offices, click on PDF to the rightWood and Pellet Stove County Permit Office List.pdf. Grants will not be issued to applicants
who do not receive the proper permits for stoves.
The Maryland Energy Administration has a two-tier incentive award for each stove category. This is based on the required particulate emissions limit and the encouragement of consumers to choose a stove with an EPA published efficiency rating.
Grants are allocated on a first come/first served basis across technologies, and are subject to change in amount and existence based on funding availability.
