What is the program?


Subject to funding availability, MEA will provide grants on a competitive basis to farms/businesses in the agriculture sector to cover up to 50% of the cost of eligible energy efficiency upgrades, if applicable, after all other incentives have been applied.

In fiscal year 2018, there is up to $175,000 available for eligible energy efficiency measures.

What are the project requirements?

  • Cost effective energy efficiency projects are eligible for funding.
  • All measures must be installed before April 1, 2019.
  • Invoices are due May 1, 2019.
  • Projects must be cost effective, with a total simple payback 15 years or less.

This program is dedicated to the memory of Kathleen Arlee "Kathy" Petry Mathias of Ocean City, who passed away Aug. 15, 2011 after a battle with cancer. The wife of Maryland State Senator James N. Mathias Jr., Kathy was an inexhaustible advocate for Maryland’s Eastern Shore and its farming community.​​​​​
